About 6RADAT

6RADAT: Bridging African Diaspora with Tanzania for Cultural, Educational, and Development Initiatives

The 6th REGION AFRICAN DIASPORA ALLIANCE IN TANZANIA (6RADAT), is a strategic liaison for cross cultural, educational and development activities, between the Sixth Region African Diaspora and the African continent, specifically in Tanzania. We as an organized alliance aim to be the resource for social enterprise, cultural and educational development, and investment opportunities, to further the legacy of Pan Africanism established in Tanzania by Mwalimu Julius Nyerere.

Our Objectives

Collaboration

To engender collaborative efforts between the 6th Region Historic Africans and Tanzanians, and establish programs for community outreach for cross cultural, educational an developmental activities towards the Pan African agenda.

Awareness

To help the African Diaspora (commonly referred to as the ‘Historic Diaspora’) in repatriating to Africa and with resettling efforts within Tanzania: To increase public awareness of the African ‘historical’ Diaspora’s history and journey and how it connects to the history of Tanzania.

Resources

To be a Pan African vehicle with which the 6th Region African Diasporas, that have returned to Africa, specifically Tanzania, can use to help them peacefully live, integrate, and contribute to the development of Tanzania.

Our Programs

6RADAT aims to be an organization that will allow individuals/companies/groups to work through or with, on community projects/development activities that will benefit this country; Establish programming for community outreach that directly supports Tanzania’s strategic plans towards strengthening their Millennium Development Goals.

Environmental Initiatives

6RADAT have participated in national Safi Day activities for over two years now. Our primary initiative has been the Beach Cleanup events, which we believe is an excellent way to collaborate and contribute to environmental preservation. The last Saturday of every month at 7 a.m., at the beach in Dar we hold a two-hour cleanup session, and we collect recyclable and reusable materials as well, then work with the local youth to explore creative uses for these materials.

Additionally, in partnership with other environmental organizations, we collect small trees and plant them in schools and areas that require increased green cover, aligning with Tanzania’s Reforestation initiative

Repatriation Services

Our mission to assist the African Diaspora, also known as the ‘Historic Diaspora,’ in their repatriation to Africa and in the process of settling in Tanzania – is 1 of the most urgent and important activities. We aim to raise awareness about the historical Diaspora’s rich heritage, culture, and their journey, emphasizing its connections with Tanzania’s history.  In addition, we serve as a Pan-African platform for the 6th Region African Diasporas who have returned to Africa, specifically in Tanzania. We support their peaceful coexistence, integration, and active participation in Africa’s development & Agenda 2063.

Community Engagement

Our community is brimming with individuals eager to make a difference. We collaborate with local businesses to bridge the gap between service providers and those seeking assistance. We also find ways for the Diaspora to use their skills, experience, and knowledge to help local companies and each other to grow and be of service.

Our engagement program engages local businesses to offer their services to our enrolled members at reduced rates. Also, we support Diaspora businesses to get access to wider markets..
